Blessed with good weather, on June 19 the Acquaintance Day 2010 was held. The event started at 2:30 p.m. and culminated in the evening.
Dressed in their colorful sports attire, the whole SACS community gathered in the basketball area. Usually acquaintance programs were done only in the evening; however, the Socio-Cultural and Sports Committees (both of the Collegium and Professorium) opted to organize parlor and ball games in the afternoon as a commencement program of this year’s Acquaintance Day, not just party. The organizers aim not only acquainting the brothers with the other members of the community but more importantly to establish a good sense of Augustinian “Community Life,” as inspired by the formation thrust this year.
Despite the scorching heat of the sun, the brothers showed their active and energetic participation in the parlor games. The group of Rev. Fr. Andrew Batayola, OSA was declared the overall champion.
The Acquaintance Day 2010 continued in the evening. After the Vespers, everybody assembled in the College Refectory for a fraternal agape. Shortly after dinner, all hurried and prepared themselves for the party to culminate the event.
The evening program began at around 8:30 p.m. with the motif of anime or superhero characters. Clad in their fantastic costumes, the professed, the college, the friars, and the employees looked unique and special with their clothing expressions. Each year level, personnel, and seminary formators showcased their talents. Then, the most awaited part of the party was the introduction of the neophytes, both from the Collegium and Professorium Communities. Snacks were served right after the program. The party ended with a live band presentations spearheaded by the college brothers. It lasted until 11:45 p.m. (Fray Jorge Zafra, OSA)
